My heart hurt when I watched that video of the singing & dancing.

  2. Senor Quixana says:

Occam’s razor suggests that the XX chromosome sequence in the blood from “eucharistic miracles” is because it is the blood of a woman whose father contributed an X chromosome. This strongly suggests these are stunts to impress those who want to believe. A much more detailed analysis showing identical results from all samples and those results being consistent with what one should expect of a person of Jesus’ time and place would be much more convincing. It would, of course, have to show the chromosomal anomaly that allows for someone with XX chromosomes to have male sex characteristics. The Church is not against science, but in this instance the science is best interpreted as disputing what some of the faithful would like to believe.

I wasn’t able to watch past 21 seconds of the first video and those were 21 seconds of torture I’ll never get back.

  4. Dantesque says:

Agree with Senor Quixana. I have seen this video before, and what it provides is at best doubtful and at worst, harmful (and in none of the versions I’ve seen there’s any proof that this kind of DNA testing was done and where the results are). If there is no Y chromosome, then the person is not male; XX on the pair means female person (so Jesus would be a clone or chimera of Mary). Likewise, a single X chromosome is what is called the Turner syndrome: a female person affected by pretty severe growth and sexual development disabilities.

At the bottom line: if what is being said in the video is true, Jesus being a man would be naturally inexplicable… as naturally inexplicable as his having a y chromosome despite not having a human father. Also as naturally inexplicable as a host bleeding or turning into flesh. So in the end it’s either net zero extra support for the Catholic position, or an argument for natural autochimerism and Jesus being female. Which clashes horribly with everything pressuposed in the very existence of Eucharistic miracles.
