An easy one. Black mates in 4.

Black to move and mate in 4.

Yes, definitely much easier. After failing to solve the last 3 I was getting a little depressed. :-) But still working on 4-Sep problem.

This has always been one of my favourite places in Rome. It connects me in a special way with the ancient Church.

This is the Basilica of San Clemente al Laterano in Rome, Italy.
A few features that identify it:
    • The beautiful 12th-century apse mosaic with the large gold background and the Cross in the center.
    • The frescoed lower band of saints in the apse.
    • The Cosmatesque marble floor pattern with circles and intricate inlays.
    • The schola cantorum (the enclosed choir in the nave), which is very distinctive.
It’s actually built on top of two older churches, with a Mithraic temple beneath.

  7. EAW says:

The Basilica of San Clemente was the titular church of two Archbishops of Utrecht (The Netherlands), Johannes (Jan) de Jong (1946-1955, the first Archbishop of Utrecht to be created cardinal) and Adrianus (Ad) Simonis (1985-2020). I definitely want to visit this beautiful church.
