Daily Rome Shot 1427 – Requiescat

In front of the American Embassy in Rome.

I hadn’t paid a lot of attention to Charlie Kirk. I knew who he was and what he did.  He seemed a good, God fearing man who loved his family and country. The night before he was killed short videos of him taking questions from students on different campuses showed up in my YouTube lineups. I watched a few. I’ve never watched any before and videos of him had never shown up as suggestions in my YouTube lineup before. The next day, he was killed while doing exactly what was being shown in the videos I saw (for the first time) a few hours before.

May he rest in peace.  Pray for his family.  Pray for this country.

He was described by Jeff Childer’s the terrific writer of Coffee and Covid as a sweet man who was different because he was always the same good guy off camera and on. He said he was a huge guy, a gentle giant, even a bit “goofy”, in a good way. He was a man of peace, he brought dialogue and conversation, he reached across the aisle. He was a christian man, husband, father, who encouraged young people to get married and have children. He recently told evangelicals they should honor Our Lady more. And they killed him.
Already sounds like it was a trans killer. These people are unhinged entirely, satan has them. Many somethings need to be done asap.
    And they killed him.

Father Z, thank you for your response of a Requiem Mass for Charlie Kirk. A friend and I were on a road trip when the News broke that he had been shot. We said an urgent Rosary on the freeway. Sadly, the Lord said no. I would urge all here to step up and be part of the solution. I just started Hillsdale’s Introduction to the Constitution. If one hasn’t heard his arguments, please check out the hundreds of podcasts on Rumble. Charlie Kirk was an eloquent debater who always gave the other side respect, which he did not always receive back. Pray for his soul, his young family of course. Do not let his death be in vain, step up and do what you can. Invite people to Holy Mass, tell them what Jesus has done in your life, register people to vote. If you are able, volunteer at Turning Point USA. Rest in peace Charlie. Next man up!!!

i was blessed to have the opportunity today to go to adoration and benediction after work. i lit a votive candle for him and his family after much excruciatingly ardent prayer and filling the room to overflowing with the Tantum Ergo (big fella, big bellows, big voice).

Even those who disagreed with CK’s message are stepping up to condemn this horrific murder, as any civilized, decent person should.

I am glad to know the Italians have offered their condolences. Like you, I was not aware of CK’s work until yesterday. But no one deserves to be murdered – whether it is innocent schoolchildren at Mass, the CEO of a healthcare insurer who was walking down the street on his way home to his family, or an American exercising his right to free speech on a university campus where he was invited to speak. These murders and others were not only immoral, but cowardly, attacking defenseless, innocent victims, leaving their families vulnerable and grieving, and horrifying the rest of us. All to satisfy the killers’ narrow, selfish agendas.

Americans are better than this. It’s time to stop the vicious in-fighting and relearn the virtues of civilized discussions and encounters – whether we agree with others or not – and to extend compassion to those in trouble, those in need, and those in pain. We never have to betray our beliefs when we treat others with dignity. But it certainly reflects the Catholic in us to live as God wants us to live and to act and speak as He would act and speak.

Peace begins with each of us, and it begins now.

Living in England near Hadrians Wall, I’d never heard of Mr Kirk until his death.
It’s 34 years since the Soviet Union collapsed at that time people were asking how the American Empire would fall as all empires before had fallen.
I think America is going to need a coup d’etat. Everyone knows that all congressman and senators except for one or two are bought and paid for by the Israel lobby. When the recent Roe v Wade case was overturned hundreds of Jewish groups lobbied against the decision. There were hysterical scenes in the media, even judges being threatened. One media person on You Tube talking about Charlie Kirk said that America is in a culture war and the people need to take up arms. This hysterical women is on the left.
How do you turn such a heavily armed country around…???
Sorry to put it like this but I think you need a controlled “demolition”. Disinfect the Congress. Each state needs to look to its own declare martial law if needs be and ruthlessly reign in hyper partisan rhetoric in the media. I’ve seen people on the right ….understandably in my view… making inflammatory remarks. OK to let of some steam but this is just as much a threat as crazy stuff from the left.
The future is bleak and God is definitely going to really bless America in order to get you out of this situation.
I fear we in England will be dragged down along side America.
