Thanks – that is jolly! (On a related serious note, I am amazed at our young crucifers and vexillifers.)

Have you seen Erik Hoel’s 1 September Free Press article – with embedded video, “I Taught My 3-Year-Old to Read ‘The Hobbit’”? – it’s fun, too! On to Hobbitus Ille, perhaps (though he does not accent learning Latin)?

On a dark note, have a look at the English Wikipedia article, “Joachim Paul” – recently disqualified from “the 2025 Ludwigshafen mayoral election” later this month “by the city’s electoral committee due to their stated lack of confidence in Paul’s adherence to the constitution” after “a report on Paul had been requested by incumbent mayor Jutta Steinruck from Germany’s domestic intelligence agency, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution” which “extensively quoted Paul’s statements on the Nibelungenlied medieval epic poem and The Lord of the Rings series, whose protagonists he praised for their ‘deep commitment to their people, their culture, and their forefathers’.” “Series”, I have read elsewhere, because he was referring to the Amazon series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”!

I’ve long fantasized about local parishes organizing a competition among servers – serious enough to enliven boy’s competitive spirit, but overall good natured fun. Red light/green light with a team holding a mock baldacchino, relay race to get the forgotten paten, who can light the tallest easter candle, etc. A large trophy would be awarded that could be prominently displayed by the winning parish for the year.

Love it! Even Rocky never achieved the heights these young men do assisting at Mass every week.
