3 October: St. Thérèse – Thank You! Please hear my petitions!

Today is the Feast of St. Thérèse de Lisieux.

I call upon her intercession today in a special way, for myself and for my benefactors.

One of my two 1st class relics of St. Thérèse, to whom I am grateful.

St. Therese probably saved my priesthood back when I was in seminary and it was “Ioannes contra mundum”.  What a sick sick place and time.

What a beautiful saint and powerful intercessor.

I also call upon St. Thérèse to ask of Christ the High Priest to pour His Most Precious Blood down upon the bishops who are suppressing the Traditional Latin Mass, that this washing will open their hearts.

Lovely post, Father, thanks for brightening up my day. Saint Thérèse has been a great friend of mine too, working a great miracle for me once. Please, can you (and those reading this post) say a prayer for me – a sinful Fr. – to her?

The Allelúia verses are particularly beautiful today, but I want to draw attention to the the Tractus of today’s Mass (were it celebrated as a votive Mass after Septuagesima). It’s from Song of Songs 2:
    .
‘Jam hiems tránsiit, imber ábiit, et recéssit. v. Flores apparuérunt in terra nostra, tempus putatiónis advénit: vox túrturis audíta est in terra nostra.’
    .
‘Winter is now past, the rain is over and gone. v. The flowers have appeared in our land: the time of pruning is come: the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.’ (Translation by Abbot Cabrol)
    .
How we long for the winter of faith in the Church of Christ to be over. Were I the pope in however many centuries it will take to (at least) begin the purge of Modernism, I would use these beautiful verses to begin my address from the foot of the altar in Saint Peter’s Basilica (fantasies, right!?).
    .
Maybe the Little Flower will be instrumental in plucking the tall and gangly weeds of Modernism? She prayed to fight heretics like Saint Joan of Arc, but the Lord gave her a spiritual war of love to fight against Christ’s unseen enemies. By grace, she was victorious, and I hope we all can be too.

How did someone know to examine the rose petal?

Also, St. Thérèse, please pray for my sister, E.E.F. It is very urgent.
