Leo… reversing something Francis did…

Leo… reversing another thing Francis did… HERE

In October, Pope Leo XIV issued the decree Coniuncta Cura, a major financial reform that ended the Vatican Bank’s exclusive role in managing Holy See investments and allowed APSA and other accredited intermediaries to handle funds when advantageous. The change, which reverses a 2022 centralization under Pope Francis, aims to diversify management, improve returns, and strengthen the Holy See’s long-term financial sustainability amid rising operational costs.

The future for Charlotte and Knoxville?

Black to move. This is tricky.

NB: I’ll hold comments with solutions ’till the next day so there won’t be “spoilers” for others.

19 year old Javokhir Sindarov from Uzbekistan won the FIDE World Cup. He’s the youngest every to qualify for the Candidates. First Candidates without a Russian… ever.

I feel (I cannot be sure) that limiting the access to the Extraordinary Form might not cause diminished interest in it, but will push the people towards the fringes or the extremes, which is what in theory caused TC, and wanted to avoid. It means towards SSPX (unclear legal situation), or towards blogs or sites that are a bit toxic, too traditionalist, instead of a community who has a healthy desire for tradition.

  2. WVC says:

The more of the Francis problems Leo undoes, the more obvious it becomes that he doesn’t WANT to undo Traditiones Custodes and actually BELIEVES in the lies it proclaimed about how the Traditional Latin Mass somehow goes against the “unity” of the Church.

    Black Knight -> g4 Check
White King can’t retreat down into Check, so he moves left Black Knight-> e3, if up, back to f7. Repeat for a Stalemate.

  4. TonyB says:

I was wrong about the stalemate loop. It took me a bit of thinking.

    1) Ng4 Check
    2) Kf5 (White king evades)
    3) Ne3 (Black presses the attack)
    4) Kf4 (White evades… except…)
    5) Rf1 Mate

  5. pestolover says:

    I think R-F1
If White doesn’t find R-H4, it’s over for him with black playing n-G5 next. If he does find it, then black moves K-C2 or E2 with the idea of checkmating the King on his next move with N-D2. In the intervening move, white can still save the game by now moving the rook he’s put on H4 to F4, blocking the black rook’s path to F-5, which will become a safe square now for his king. Looks dicey for black after that, but at least he’s given himself a couple chances. I don’t think TonyB’s plan works because White’s king can also go F4, F5 to evade as easily as F5,F4, and ending on F5, he could just capture the knight unless it moves again, and so R-F1 would not be possible.

  6. revueltos67 says:

TonyB: Unless I’m misunderstanding something 5) Rf1 is not mate as white has Kxe3 capturing the black knight. From there it’s hard to see how black prevents white from Queening on a8.
