    That is hilarious!!!!

Also- Dicastery of worship and Dicastery of the Sacraments have both said TC restrictions will remain in place, contrary to any hope that this may change. As has been said elsewhere on the blog perhaps it’s a time game and Pope Leo continues to soften the situation and eventually ease TC out over time rather than bludgeoning people. It continues to be incredibly disheartening that, despite what Pope Leo has said, US Bishops continue to dig in their heels in stripping away tradition… and Italian, Spanish, and German Bishops continue on the path of heterodoxy. I’m reminded of Lord of the World by Richard Benson… although they had a strong and wise Holy Father. It is difficult to hold out hope for that here.

    Brilliant!!

  3. APX says:

Another, more practical solution, would be to distribute communion with the priest, etc standing above a step entering into the sanctuary.

I’m not sure how many years it’ll be before I could really use something like that for, say, processions, Marches for Life, restfully waiting to be arrested for silent prayer if I visit the UK (or some other places, if I’m not mistaken) – or even, in secular application, shopping from the lower shelves in supermarkets, etc. (Sadly, they probably would end up in copyright lawsuits – at least in the UK – if you called them ‘Knee-Ease Deluxe Zed Cars’.)

Indeed! We have about 4 or 5 still-young-at-heart daily communicants who desire, ache, yearn to kneel to receive Our Lord in Holy Communion, but are unable to without some assistance. We asked Father beforehand if we could kneel at the first pew and he said yes. We wait for the end of “the line” and we kneel alongside the first pew (using the pew for support to kneel and to get back up). Father willingly takes a couple steps forward to give us the Most Blessed Sacrament. If only there were some sort of rail which separated the sanctuary from the nave that we could kneel at…

    Hey !
    Knee-Ease stole my idea !

  7. Michaela says:

This will certainly be the new fashion for moms of littles — the kneeler assists when pregnancy makes kneeling (while holding the wiggling, reigning infant of course) difficult, a toddler can also ride on the seat, contained, amused, and properly poised for a blessing from the priest.

  8. fac says:

SophiaGrace – would it be possible for you to ask Father if you can kneel in the first pew to receive?

  9. Not says:

That is awesome. I can still kneel at Mass but during Stations of the Cross, they let us Seniors go to the Choir loft.

  10. JonPatrick says:

But Father! But Father! This kneeling thing – it will slow down communion. And it will confuse people! Doesn’t that priest manual thing say that we are supposed to receive standing and on the hand? And I’m sure Vatican II said that somewhere. Oh I forgot, you HATE VATICAN II!!

  11. Ave Maria says:

From Psalm 94: We have known for centuries to kneel before God:
Come, let us worship and bow down,

    bend the knee before the Lord who made us;

for he himself is our God and we are his flock,

the sheep that follow his hand.

  12. SophiaGrace says:

fac – Yes, Father first suggested to me that I could sit in that front row and stay there to receive kneeling, and I do. Also – if I happen to be sitting back in the church – I will come forward and slip into that first seat, first pew if it is open and wait there till the end to receive, and Father has said that is okay. I am not able to kneel nor get back up at the side of the pew as the others do. We (old folk) who desire to receive Our Lord on our knees also desire to be as inconspicuous and non-disruptive as possible. We started out as only 1 or 2 but now we are 5. I pray more communicants who might need assistance to kneel will be encouraged to do the same. And I pray the kneelers and yes, the altar rail might return. This priest is such a blessing and gift to our parish in so many ways.
