The first four pieces of advice ought not always to be followed, surely? If everybody, including parents and people in business, took them literally then spiritual harm would result.

This is a really fine list — one I very much appreciate. Not sure why this line from Isiah 7:13 came to mind after reading it:
“???? ?? ?????????, ? ????? ?? ?????: ?? ?? ? ????? ????? ??? ??? ?? ?? ???????? ?? ???, ???? ??? ??? ???????? ?? ?? ??? ????”
Maybe it’s realizing just how tiresome one’s own whiny, petty little habits of mind, tongue, and living have become — even to oneself — but are still on wretched display not only here but for the entire Court of Heaven . . .
