- Prosper of Aquitaine (+c.455), De gratia Dei et libero arbitrio contra Collatorem 22.61

“He [Satan] will set up a counter-Church which will be the ape of the Church because, he the devil, is the ape of God. It will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content. It will be a mystical body of the anti-Christ that will in all externals resemble the mystical body of Christ. In desperate need for God, whom he nevertheless refuses to adore, modern man in his loneliness and frustration will hunger more and more for membership in a community that will give him enlargement of purpose, but at the cost of losing himself in some vague collectivity.”
“Who is going to save our Church? Not our bishops, not our priests and religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes, and the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops act like bishops.”
- Fulton Sheen

A monthly subscription donation means I have steady income I can plan on. I put you my list of benefactors for whom I pray and for whom I often say Holy Mass.
In view of the rapidly changing challenges I now face, I would like to add more $10/month subscribers. Will you please help?

"But if, in any layman who is indeed imbued with literature, ignorance of the Latin language, which we can truly call the 'catholic' language, indicates a certain sluggishness in his love toward the Church, how much more fitting it is that each and every cleric should be adequately practiced and skilled in that language!" - Pius XI
"Let us realize that this remark of Cicero (Brutus 37, 140) can be in a certain way referred to [young lay people]: 'It is not so much a matter of distinction to know Latin as it is disgraceful not to know it.'" - St. John Paul II
Grant unto thy Church, we beseech Thee, O merciful God, that She, being gathered together by the Holy Ghost, may be in no wise troubled by attack from her foes. O God, who by sin art offended and by penance pacified, mercifully regard the prayers of Thy people making supplication unto Thee, and turn away the scourges of Thine anger which we deserve for our sins. Almighty and Everlasting God, in whose Hand are the power and the government of every realm: look down upon and help the Christian people that the heathen nations who trust in the fierceness of their own might may be crushed by the power of thine Arm. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. R. Amen.

Prayer Before Using The Internet HERE
Almighty and eternal God, who created us in Thine image and bade us to seek after all that is good, true and beautiful, especially in the divine person of Thine Only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant, we beseech Thee, that, through the intercession of Saint Isidore, Bishop and Doctor, during our journeys through the internet we will direct our hands and eyes only to that which is pleasing to Thee and treat with charity and patience all those souls whom we encounter. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Basically seems to say Easter can’t be transferred so should be celebrated without the faithful and certain ceremonies. The Chrism Mass and devotionals of the faithful can be transferred. Then to keep it from being employed in the future is explicitly limited to 2020.
At first I thought, “Who’s asking such a question, about moving the date of Easter?”
Then I thought, “Well, we’ve seen Ascension Thursday Sunday, so maybe that’s why people are hoping for Easter Sunday Pentecost.”
It is only a week difference so it looks like things won’t get back to normal before than but why cant we join in union with the Orthodox Church which has a later easter date?

Wasn’t the Easter Vigil Mass commonly celebrated that way prior to the mid-1950s — the priest and a server or two just did it all by themselves on Holy Saturday morning? It’s my understanding that the current practice of having a public Vigil Mass after sunset on Holy Saturday was established by Pope Pius XII.
Dear bookworm,
well, not quite. Yes, it was on the Saturday morning, and yes, it was no Sunday-duty thing and nowhere near as popular as the following Mass on Easter Sunday morning. But the rubrics as they stood made it somehow undesirable to have only two or one server: incense, procession of the triangle-stick, lighting of multiple candles during the Exsultet, chanting of the Litany, etc.
And of course, the people could attend, and I guess the religiously active part of the population not occupied with weekdayish duties rather did so, though perhaps not every year. They say it was a major feature of Easter-retreats, in monasteries and so forth, and many faithful Catholics would take these retreats, if perhaps only once in a lifetime. I’ve also heard that families sent one member as a sort of representative “to bring the Easter fire home” (to relight the fire in the hearth that had been extinguished), though they may have left after the lighting of the fire or perhaps candle.
After this morning-vigil, the priest would, I guess, rush through his village to bless all the homes (at least if that part of the Roman Ritual was used).
Bookworm,
I have my grandma’s handwritten choir notes from Triduum 1949 (she was the organist). Her notes clearly indicate that the congregation was in attendance and it happened in the evening. (Good Friday service was at 9:00 am, followed by Stations at 3:00 pm, followed by Tenebrae at 7:30 pm, followed by choir practice.)
So long as the Exsultet remains, COVID-19 has not conquered.
