What happened at 07:17? What is going to happen at 18:35?
What about at 18:45?

Lately I’ve celebrated masses with intentions for:
VD
A (leukemia)
FSSP
Also, for my benefactors
Also, a 1 year anniversary Requiem.
Also, a couple whose 50th anniversary is today. YAY!
I can take some intentions. HERE
Thank you Lord for this day.
Speaking of 50th anniversary, while this might be the most flattering shot of Pippo, it did catch him in one of his moments wherein he revels in what he does. These 50 roses are for Mary at The Parish from the Golden Couple today.

Pinna and Peppa looked on, slightly interested at what Pippo was upp to.

Pippo gave me some peppers. As I walked around I felt like Diogenes. Near the apartment, I had wry remarks from the neighbors, like “Buona PASTA!”

On my way to the ATM (thank you donors) there was this with lovely light at the Mons Pietatis.

In churchy news… what’s going on? Oh, yes, *yawn*… walking together about walking togetherity.
Today is the Feast of Carlo Acutis. It is also Columbus Day. I, however, used Mary on Saturday with added orations for Thanksgiving. But we could use Carlo Acutis, once proclaimed a saint and on the universal calendar.
Far more interesting than anything going on with walking together is this purple rock on Mars:
Yes, this is a purple rock on Mars, 225 million kilometres away. And here it is in your feed!

Hey Fathers! How about a clerical Guayabera shirt?
In chessy news… HERE
I stopped at the chess guys yesterday in the P.za der Fico. They are about the same. I note that they had been there for hours by this point.

White to move and mate in 4.
NB: I’ll hold comments with solutions ’till the next day so there won’t be “spoilers” for others.
In London, says ChessBase, not GM Magnus Carlsen’s Alpine Sg Pipers but GM Alireza Firouzja’s Triveni Continental Kings secured the second spot in Saturday’s Final of the Tech Mahindra Global Chess League. The Kings will be playing for glory against the PBG Alaskan Knights, who qualified yesterday.

SPACE EXPLORATION!
I blame the Baltimore Catechism. In he 1950’s they added the question, “Is there Llife on other planets?” Answer, “All things are possible with God.”
Now we have a desperate search to find any sign of life, i.e. through EVOLUTION that there is life on these dead rocks called planets
What are they hoping to prove? God had a backup plan if he destroyed the Earth? God had life on the planets and destoyed it?
I always loved watching SYFI. Big spaceships flying across the galaxy. I found out that the largest thing they bring to the Space Station is Oxygen. They can’t produce it in space. The Biodome experiment proved it. Air became toxic.
Yes, all things are possible with God. He created the Earth=life and the planets= dead rocks and the Sun. All revolving around the Earth.
Dear Fr. Z.
What a magnificent floral bouquet for Our Blessed Lady from the 50th Anniversary couple !!!
A floral tribute that, without doubt, Our Blessed Lady will admire and pour her gracious smile upon the couple.
Many congratulations to the couple and a big hello to Pippo, Pinna, and Peppa !!!
The beautiful Yellow Roses reminded Zephyrinus of the same Yellow Roses he took to his local Church last week. They are now in front of the statue of Our Blessed Lady. October is the month Dedicated to Our Lady.
How wonderful if Yellow Roses were put in front of all Marian statues in all Churches across the World !!!
That WOULD BE “Together -ity”.
“Far more interesting than anything going on with walking together”
A category which is only slightly less broad than Being. Perhaps by implementing the Synod we’ve discovered a new Transcendental Category?
Yellow roses! To me yellow roses have long symbolized the intercession of St. Thérèse and answered prayer. Many years ago, in a state of deep discouragement, I asked her for her intercession in a hugely important matter and for a sign of yellow roses if my prayer was granted. For a while all roses of any kind seemed to disappear, then I found myself fairly surrounded by yellow ones, and even the smell of roses, right before I got what I needed. And, she has just assisted me in another, similarly important matter in which my prayer has been granted. This time the yellow roses appeared after the fact. It is amazing to consider how heaven stoops to accommodate us in our weakness, so that we don’t lose courage.
Thank you Fr. Z for saying the Mass for the FSSP.

Beautiful roses, and beautiful peppers! I miss living in Italy!
Please pray, Father Z and all who read this, for my CCD students. They are polite and attentive and show up for every class period, but don’t retain much information. Last year they were very interested in Blessed Carlo Acutis. I moved up with them this year, and was a bit dismayed to learn that they’d forgotten a lot that we’d learned last year about this soon-to-be saint. This week I brought Italian snacks to class so we could celebrate Blessed Carlo’s feast day, which they enjoyed (of course).
This activity was a lead-in to choosing a class patron saint/blessed for the year, which in turn will (I hope) lead them to start thinking about Confirmation in a positive/I-must-do-this way. We’ll be talking about St. Joan of Arc next, with more saints to follow. Please, please pray for my students. They need Jesus, our Blessed Mother, and the saints in their lives.
Saint Thérèse is my Confirmation patron saint, and I learned about her/she found me via the Maryknoll Treasure Box series for children, which my grandma’s friend passed on to us after her own children and grandchildren had outgrown them. Every time I see a rose bush, I am reminded of St. Thérèse and her Little Way.
I hope devotion to Blessed-soon-to-be-Saint Carlo Acutis continues to grow, because he was so articulate about his desire to get to Heaven and his focus on his plan to get there, yet he was also a typical teen who loved computer programming and video games and family time and photography and and and…just like the students I teach.
Thank you for your prayers for my students!
Something more interesting as well
