Here’s some good news.
JUST IN: Cardinal Raymond Burke will celebrate a Pontifical High Mass in the Old Rite in St. Peter’s Basilica during the Summorum Pontificum Pilgrimage in Rome this October 24–26. The Mass will be offered at the Altar of the Chair on Saturday, October 25: https://t.co/RoGCedb14x pic.twitter.com/aoM5m6kUEs

I feel that this is part of a growing body of evidence that Pope Leo is more sympathetic towards traditionalists than his predecessor.
Te deum Laudamus
ardent hope that Fr. Z may assist. my health prevents me from doing so.
Knowing what has happened in St. Peters with Pachamama and the latest obscenities that have passed through the holy door (not to mention what else may have occurred in the past many years) – is there a need to exorcise and reconsecrate that alter?
Also – can you comment on the prominence of Cathedra Petri – Altar of the Chair? There are quite a number of alters in St. Peters, but this one is the only other one on the central axis…

@PatS They will probably use the hideous modern altar table at the Altar of the Chair. To be fair, I believe that altar was hidden away during the whole Pachamama spectacle, so it’s actually been kept “clean” from the Pachamama, unlike the high altar in the basilica.
