Sorry about this… truly… but the point has to be made.

In other news, at RocketLaunch.Live I see that there was a launch on 12 February of “Amazon Leo” satellites. Pope Leo should have gotten a copyright in place. This is for Amazon’s satellite internet service. I’m sure Elon is quaking in his boots. He only has launches like every other day… with his own SpaceX delivery methods.
Oh yes, it was the launch of “Amazon Leo (LE-01)” which suggests to me that they are only just now getting this project, pardon me, off the ground. Be sure to tip your waitress.

When I was assisting at a schismatic TLM before the group joined the diocese, the priest would tell us to pick a venial sin to give up. Then, while fasting and giving up snacks between meals, when hungry between meals allow the hunger to remind us about the particular venial sin we have given up. He said, “this way when Lent is over Our Lord gets to keep our gift to Him.” Unfortunately, it seems to be the same venial sin every year.
My mother died 3 years ago at 95. Her final illness began shortly before St. Valentine’s Day. Fortunately I gave her flowers that year early rather than late.
When she was unconscious in hospice (over a week), I would read aloud prayers for the dying or those ill out of my St Andrew’s missal hoping she could hear them and perhaps convert in her heart.
Fr. Z, two comments. The video of the dancer leading in the procession at the start of Mass is disappointing, not the least because the church is almost empty. Compare that with attendance at the more orthodox liturgies. Second, I’m never disappointed if someone tries to break a habit of sin, even if it is a misunderstanding of usual Lenten practices. The Church should take the win.
I’m praying for the repose of your mother’s soul and for comfort to your family.
Poor quality, almost unintelligible music, and some loopy woman prancing around the aisle and around the sanctuary, in front of an entrance procession. This is plain bad. Bad liturgy. And bad dancing. She is not Ginger Rogers.
The priest should not permit it. The parishioners should complain, or physically stop it. The Bishop should be notified, and he should instruct his clergy that such things are not permitted at Mass, whether in Latin or English. Nothing in the GIRM permits this kind of behavior.
The trouble with saying that this is “allowed” is that it is not. It is not the proper celebration of the Mass in the Novus Ordo. It is dereliction of duty. Mass needs to be celebrated reverently.
That video is just awful. Let’s hope things like this go the way of the flesh, the abundance of grey among those that could be bothered to show up suggest that it will. As suggested in the caption, if I had to endure a ‘liturgy’ like this, the ‘thanks be to God’ at the end will be heartfelt. Like most of us here, I prefer places where ‘Deo gratias’ is used.
