Mom is getting great care in the nursing home and my Knight friends from church helped with her furniture. She is adjusting to the situation better than I am. Please pray that the Medicaid application goes okay. I am scared a lot.
Our priest was appointed the Regional Superior of the Southern Cross Region for the FSSP in Australia, thus will be leaving us once his Visa is approved. That’s not the good news, but the priest who is replacing him arrived last week and, after much anxiety (I’m not a fan of personnel changes… usually), I am confident that this will be a good change, but not to detract from our current priest, whom I am sure will be missed.
A Catholic is bound to win the National League. Saint Francis vs. Saint Louis. The sandal-wearing hippie introvert vs. the French-speaking manager. The stigmatized (“Literally!” says Biden) vs. the middle east sabre rattler (“Iran!” shout the neocons). The community activist who wound up the patron of so many orders duplicating eachother inefficiently vs. the man who navigated political life and still came out a saint.
Registered viewers pick San Francisco in 7. But among likely viewers, Saint Louis wins, also in 7.
I was raised by a devout Catholic Mother. My Father, although a great man in many many ways, has never been baptized and only attended mass a couple of times, that I can recall, in my entire upbringing.
8 weeks ago, as my Mother was getting ready for mass, he asked if he could tag along. and the next week, and the next week.
He has since entered RCIA at 61 years old!
Last Sunday he genuflected and made the sign of the cross as he entered the pew, and my Mother could not believe her eyes. Her words to me, ” I never thought I would see the day…..”
Please pray that the Holy Spirit kindly leads him towards his baptism, at last, and into the Kingdom of God.

God has blessed me with another child! I am 3 months pregnant, nauseated, exhausted, and over the moon. Might I ask you to pray for the health of my child ( my previous pregnancy ended in a miscarriage ).

This is from an article pointing out that the Dem. party seems to have made the decision to “divorce” the Catholic Church listing the mandate and pro abortion, pro ssm, etc.

This is good news and I hope it actually turns out to be more than 51%.
Even the NY Times can put a positive spin that by this time next week there will be a dozen canonized American saints!

1. Our parish has as many as 20 candidates for Confirmation next year.
2. Sunday Mass attendance at our parish church is up by about 25% compared with six years ago, when our current parish priest arrived.
3. Our cathedral (St. Marie’s, Sheffield, England) re-opens for use next month having been closed for extensive refurbishment for about a year. I gather that much of the work is to put right some of the damage done by the 1970’s alterations done when the so-called “Spirit of Vatican II” was still blowing through the Church and many lovely neo-Gothic churches such as St. Marie’s were being butchered by the modernisers.
I’m so happy for all the good news above, especially that of More Incense please and EmmyDy (praying for your child, too). I’ve already shared with some that my husband has decided to start RCIA at age 71! So, keep praying for your loved ones! The Holy Spirit is moving to bring all of God’s children home.
First EF Parish–only 13 months old– in the spiritual wasteland of my unamed Canadian city on the prairies, now has Sunday School for grades two to six. In Latin!
Okay, once again, I’m kidding about the last part.

I just read about a new poll of Catholics in Politico (a leftist website) that reported:
“But when it comes to “active Catholics” — the subset Leo’s group is seeking — the same poll found Romney ahead 59 percent to 36 percent.” In this poll, “active Catholics” were defined as those who attend Mass regularly. This poll result – 59% for Romney – would be a big shift. Very encouraging, if true.
Our oldest is becoming more confident in his reading of Latin and asking me to press ahead in Lingua Latina Per Se Illustrata.
We’re making progress, through baby steps, to a nightly family Rosary in our house.
I’ll take up new duties at my job late this week as the replacement for my current position will begin Monday.
I’m headed to Clear Creek this coming weekend with the blessing of my wife and children who’re glad that dad is getting a chance to go “on retreat”.
I went to confession, my birthday is tomorrow. I had a good weekend signing with friends.

Wasteland on the Canadian prairies? That must be Manitoba because Alberta doesn’t have an EF Parish, but have had the FSSP there for quite some time, so it can’t be Alberta. I don’t know of any other Canadian prairie wastelands.
More good news. I was digging through the collection of papers piling up in the bottom of my purse, when I found an envelope from the bank…full of money. I guess I stuck it in there a few months ago when I went to the bank and forgot about it.
APX: Wasteland? We got Bishop Remi de Roo coming next week to visit my old parish where he “will share his experience as a newly ordained bishop participating in the Council and recall the essential features of Council’s vision for the church.”

Yes, former Bp. Remi de Roo is also visiting my home parish in Saskatoon to share his experiences. Last summer prior to moving into the new Cathedral, he paid a surprise visit to one of our Sunday Masses. Our priest informed us of the “good news” that he was informed that our parish is really interpreting “what the Council envisioned for the Spirit of Vatican II”. I’m scared I’ll go home at Christmas and we’ll have giant puppets acting out the nativity during Mass while the deacon is at the ambo with his 12 string guitar leading us in a sing-along song he wrote.
The good news just keeps on sharing across the prairie region of Canada.
The altar at my parish was recently moved back under the baldachino where it belongs. Brick by brick.
Our priest informed us of the “good news” that he was informed that our parish is really interpreting “what the Council envisioned for the Spirit of Vatican II”.
That is surely cause for concern. I shall pray for your parish.
I’m bringing home a new/rescued Rottweiler puppy (actually she’s more of a middle-aged girl) today, and I think I’m more excited about it than my kids are! :)

The Philadelphia secular oratory hosted a seven churches pilgrimage this past saturday which was just absolutely wonderful. You could literally witness young Catholics growing in their faith as the day progressed. it was totally awesome.
Our Latin Mass community has begun a Sodality of Mary. And i found out about the Legion of Mary. Wonderful !
Media “news” is often so bad that I really need the lift I get from these posts. Where I live the Extraordinary Form is struggling to survive–after five years of hanging on by our fingernails, we have finally been allowed to have Mass once a month (Mondays) in a local church. (Please pray for us!)
God has blessed my life in another way, however. Last Christmas I joined two others in founding a new magazine for the EF. It’s called Laudamus Te, and our first issue, Advent 2012, has just rolled off the presses. You can see a brief sample at http://www.laudamus-te.com

1) My 13 year old was just confirmed by the new Archbishop of San Francisco, according to the Extraordinary Form. My son chose St. Jean-Baptiste Marie Vianney.
2) I had the chance to go see a wonderful, timely, play called “Viva Cristo Rey!” at a local theatre, and knew several of the cast personally. (It’s about the life of Bl. Miguel Pro, and a relative was in attendance.) The younger brother of the confirmand has decided that, when he is confirmed, Bl. Miguel Pro will be his companion.
3) My prayers to the Infant of Prague are, slowly, being answered. God can not be outdone in generosity. God bless us, everyone.

Wife and I are flying to Rome for “work”, arriving at noon November 3rd. The Latin Mass for the Year of Faith by Cardinal Cañizares Llovera (at the Altar of St. Peter’s Chair no less) was moved from 10 am to 3 pm. Consequently, we will be able to attend.
I was able to return briefly to London, England this weekend with one of my daughters to take part in the Rosary Crusade of Reparation for sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This is an annual event and departs from Westminster Cathedral and ends at the Brompton Oratory. It is such a blessing to be able to take part in it! There’s something wonderful about being a witness to one’s faith, especially in England, where Catholics are a minority. Here are some photos from last year’s procession:

Here in central Massachusetts we have wonderful fall colors, crisp sunny days (well sometimes) and the dearth of insects means the birds have come back to the feeders in droves – juncos, chickadees, titmice, woodpeckers, and even a cardinal still resplendent in his red vestments :) And our local bluebird family is still thriving, into its 3rd generation now.
